Boris Bidjan Saberi FW 2012 Backstage Video
German-Iranian designer Boris Bidjan Saberi debuted his Fall Winter 2012 collection at Paris Fashion Week to much acclaim. Utilizing his signature draping and layering, the designer’s sophisticated urban collection sports a somewhat futuristic quality and features shades of grey and green, allowing the designs to stand apart from those of Saberi’s associated peers. Burberry The Art of the Trench Exhibition
Burberry celebrates Art of the Trench in India with an event and exhibition at The Oberoi Hotel, Gurgaon. Curated by Christopher Bailey, the exhibition showcases street style images captured in India by local photographer Manou of Wearabout.Easily one of the mainstay items within each consecutive collection, the iconic Burberry british trench coat has become one of the label’s most well-known and celebrated pieces. For their latest endeavor, the fashion house enlisted the vision of Indian street photographer, Manou, to capture a range of individuals wearing their classic trench coats throughout the streets of Delhi and Mumbai. In a special event that is being titled, “The Art of the Trench,” a celebration was hosted at The Oberoi Hotel, Gurgoan to commemorate the heritage of the Burberry trench as well as the imagery of Manou. Curated by Burberry Chief Creative Officer Christopher Bailey, the unique event showcased the images capture by Manou, allowing the limited 300 guests to experience over 50 images that were showcased across an assortment of printed and digital mediums. The event also coincided with the recent opening of the 7th Burberry store in India, within the Oberoi in Gurgaon

Alexander Wang OBJECTS Collection

Next week marks Alexander Wang’s foray into the lifestyle arena with his OBJECTS Collection. The eight-piece ensemble boasts a black mock croc coaster, embossed leather lighter, letter box, junk box, playing card case, smoked glass ashtray, leather-bound notebook with metal corners and a blackened steel bike chain with a mock croc-covered brass lock. In speaking about the collection, Wang commented “I’ve always had a fascination with home, but wanted to take it step by step. If I can’t start with the couch, at least I can start with the coaster.” The OBJECTS Collection ranges from $29-$150 USD and will be available at Wang’s Grand Street store as well as on the web on February 13.

In only a few short years designer Alexander Wang has successfully segued from downtown, urban aesthetics that endeared him to women, to a well-respected designer of menswear, even being crowned Best New Designer by GQ in 2011. In his continued attempt to diversify himself, Wang has now set his sights on accessories. The brand is launching its first collection of bags and wallets, rendered in rough-yet-refined goatskin and calfskin, in an edited array of shapes and styles perfect for the modern man including a duffle, tote, backpack, gym sack, messenger bag and wallets.

Cheap Monday recently presented its Fall/Winter 2012 collection at the 2012 Stockholm Fashion Week. Amidst the participating labels and designers showcasing their upcoming collection, Cheap Monday advanced a comprehensive look at its heavily layered winter-ready arrangement. The label made sufficient use of the its frequent juxtaposition of tight-fitting garments styled alongside loose-hanging outerwear pieces and accessories. Nicely balancing the bold characteristics conveyed via the unconventional fits and cuts, muted colors and hues perpetuate an obscure yet chic overtone to the entire range.

Ian Paley: Genuine and Authentic
For a man that has played an integral role in English fashion, they don’t come more humble than Ian Paley. Having helped paved the way for brands such as Paul Smith and their denim program, Paley is a walking encyclopedia of fashion and production knowledge. It came only as natural to take his acquired skills into his very own venture which encompasses both The Garbstore the retailer and the brand. We visited with Ian in Notting Hill Gate, London to talk shop with the charismatic personality.

Louis Vuitton: Marc Jacobs’ Encounter with Yayoi Kusama
Yayoi Kusama is a Japanese filmmaker, painter, sculptor, designer, poet, writer and altogether amazing artist known for her fixative exploration of pattern and repetition. Watch as Marc Jacobs talks about having the opportunity to have Kusama be a part of Louis Vuitton’s ambitions to bring her work to yet another outlet, where surely those able to get their hands on the products will be simply be dazzled. The 82-year-old Kusama has worked with Jacobs in the past, creating leather goods and ready-to-wear accessories which were popular, especially in the buoyant Japanese market. The new line will preview at Louis Vuitton stores in July 2012, and Kusama will also design the installation art in the shop windows which will accompany the products.
